Diver Certificate Levels

dive computer

An introductory course will help you get started in diving if your interest is not sparked by a specific topic. Also known as a buceo (or baptism of water), this course is a great choice for those with little or no experience and those who are short on time. While you can dive up to 12m, you will need a certified instructor to complete the course. You can take additional classes to upgrade to Advanced open water or Rescue certification.

PADI Scuba Diver

There are many PADI Scuba Diver levels. The introductory course can be taken by those just starting out and they can then move up to the next level after they have reached certain competency levels. PADI Scuba Diver is made up 14 modules. Each module can be broken into three sections. The course usually lasts three days, but can be upgraded in as little as 1/1.5 days. This is the most popular course in the world and will allow you to dive to 18 meters.

Advanced open water diver

Open water divers who have completed an Open Water Diver Course, and obtained an AOW certificate are called advanced open water divers. AOW divers can dive further than the recommended depth of 60 feet. They can also improve their buoyancy and air consumption. Advanced open water divers can also dive in specialty areas like wreck diving. There are many levels to an AOW certificate. These are the distinctions between each level. You can read more about these levels by reading on.

Rescue diver

There are three levels of Rescue Diver certification: technical, recreational and leader. International Standards Organisation (ISO) sets the standards for these levels. This training is based on BS EN14413-2:2004 and ISO 24801-1;2004. Instructors who are level-one can instruct recreational divers and assess their knowledge to the level of a diver. They also have the ability to plan and conduct dives. They are also certified to instruct rescue and lead other divers in open sea.

Cave-1 class

The minimum amount of experience required to become a cave diver certified instructor is 40 hours. Course content includes cave diving techniques and skills, standard procedures and emergency procedures, and information on the hazards and challenges of the environment. During their cave course, students are tested on their skills. There are two parts to the course: academics and water-based activities. Students are required to pass an exam and demonstrate their competence by passing a quiz. The student must also complete a cave dive manual.
