A Dive Master's Benefits

A dive master allows others to dive underwater. This is done by leading organised and recreational dives. Dive master certification is required in many countries for divers who have to be a supervisor or guide. Not everyone can become a dive master. You can still become a divemaster if you have the right qualifications. These are just a few of the many benefits that come with becoming a diving master.

A job description for a dive master

What is the job title of a divemaster. The job description of a dive master includes a range of duties including supervision of customer dives, assessment of the risks, briefings, and leading dive groups. A dive master's job description can be even more varied. A dive master could be responsible for multiple aspects of a dive store, including operations and social media.

Diving instructors teach and supervise scuba techniques in swimming pools or open water. They can also organize and supervise activities other than training such as navigation. Open water dive instructors can lead students on the surface and navigation portions of the dives. A dive instructor's job may include the supervision of certified divers during a scuba certification course. There are different laws that apply to dive instructors. Some countries exempt diving instructors from legal responsibility if they sign a waiver.

Certification requirements

To be a good divemaster, you must complete a course. Divemaster courses cover topics like managing divers, managing dive sites and finding the flow. In addition, candidates must have a minimum of 60 logged dives. Divemasters can assist novice divers with theory and skills, as well as assisting instructors during dive courses.


In addition to taking courses, Dive masters must pass a two-part examination. Candidates must score at minimum 75% in each section to pass the exam. Candidates will need to use the PADI Instructor manual and the electronic RDPML for the exam. Students will need to prepare an Emergency Assistance Plan and perform five waterskills exercises. At least fifteen points must be combined. The course must be completed before certification can be granted to divemasters.

Internship requirement

Divermasters have many internship options. You may be asked to assist in other PADI Courses, or even set up dive sites. Skill circuits may also require you to help. But, your internship will have a pattern. A typical internship lasts 8 weeks. In the same period, you may become an Advanced Open Water Diver. After that, you can become a Dive Guide or Divemaster after four to six weeks of training.

A Divemaster may offer a free internship in lieu of the paid ones. Even though free internships may not be ideal, they will allow you to get valuable advice and study from a Divemaster. Your internship may include the opportunity to obtain manuals and certification as well as equipment. You must also know the requirements for enrolling in any Divemaster course.
