The SDI Review Process

The SDI Review process yields one of four outcomes. These are: Approval (denial), remand, remand, recommendation for waiver, and remand. Regardless of whether the review is conducted in-house or by an external consulting firm, the process is designed to empower businesses to realize cost savings. SDI integrates seamlessly into existing portfolios and delivers mission-critical services. SDI also offers managed services programs and independent contractor compliance. The company strives to integrate its footprint to provide the best solutions for each client.

Sdi reviews result in approval, denial or remand for more information or a recommendation for waiver

The SSA reviews the SSDI and decides whether or not to approve, deny, remand, or request additional information. It then sends a memo to the MDH Unit, indicating whether the data-related agreement is approved, deferred, or remanded. If the agreement is approved, the MDH unit may proceed with execution.

The SSA will send a second notification if an application is rejected. Within sixty-five days, the denied applicant can request a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge. This hearing is similar in format to the one on disability. The hearing can take place in person, over the telephone or via videoconference. The hearing will allow the applicant and his or her representative to bring witnesses to testify about issues and the context surrounding the denial. The ALJ may also arrange for expert testimony to support the case. If the applicant loses, the ALJ will notify him or her in writing, describing the reasons for their decision. This hearing can take up to several months.

A disability review may take three to seven years. It could be denied, approved or remanded if the applicant needs additional information. If the person has made significant improvements in their medical condition and is able to return to work, the SSA can also initiate a disability review.
