Ice skating is possible at the UIUC Ice Arena. The UIUC synchronized skating team has been nationally ranked and has had their skaters compete at both the national and international levels. Tickets for the UIUC Spring Show cost $5 for general seating, and $7 for reserved seats.

The University of Illinois Ice Arena is also known as Big Pond. It is located in Champaign, Illinois. It is owned the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It hosts ice hockey and other events.

Opportunities for skating

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign maintains an ice rink that is available to the public. Here are some steps to take if you would like to host a group activity at the rink. First, you must make a reservation. The RSO Office is located in Room 284 at the Illini Union. Remember to include a list with names and contact information when you reserve ice-time. In addition, you'll need to arrange for a supervisor to be at the rink to answer any questions you may have during the rental period.

Center Ice Cafe

The University of Illinois Ice Arena's Center Ice Cafe is open to the public. The cafe, located next to the Customer Service Office offers food and beverages. The Ice Arena Pro Shop stocks a variety of skating and hockey accessories.


Free skate trainers

Champaign, Illinois' University of Illinois Ice Arena (UIUC). It is owned and operated by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The public is welcome to use the ice arena throughout the year. The public can use this rink to practice their skateboarding and figure skating skills.

Spring Show

The UIUC Ice Arena Spring Show is quickly approaching. This event will feature performances by local skaters along with a nationally-ranked, synchronized skating team. Many of these local skaters have competed on the national as well as international level. Tickets for the event are $5 for general seating and $7 if you reserve seating.

Gas leak at UI Ice Arena

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has issued an Illini-Alert following a gas leak at its ice arena. The building was evacuated at 406 E. Armory Ave. after Ameren Illinois crews discovered a leak. To stop contamination from spreading further, firefighters closed the sideway to protect the arena. The leak appears to have originated below the building.
